9-11-22 We May Never Know
Quote: “Some stranger somewhere remembers you because you were kind to them.”
Do you know what I am looking forward to most when I pass away from this life? All the people I am going to meet in Heaven.
Just imagine it. Great-Grandparents and Great-Great Grandparents that prayed for blessings over our lives even though we’d never met them will greet us when we arrive. Bible characters that we idolized will tell us that they had been cheering us on all along. And then there are the strangers we will meet that will say, “Because of your kindness, I was changed for the better.” What an amazing “Welcome Home!” party this will be!
I think we are in for a great surprise someday! How we treat each other is like when a pebble is dropped into the water – there is a ripple effect that immediately happens. Even many minutes later, there are still ripples on the water’s surface, even though we can’t see them with the human eye. We are impacting more people and much deeper than we could ever possibly comprehend. No wonder the Bible describes Heaven as such an amazing place. The reunions are going to be out of this world!
I encourage you to do that kind thing even if you think it’s small. Smile that smile. Send that kind text or email. Pass on that verse or song. Invite that person. Pay for that person behind you. Sign up to support that cause. Every action you do makes an impact on this world.
The Bible says in Galatians 6:9-10, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone…” We should never get tired of doing good and take every opportunity to be kind.
It is easy to show kindness to people who are kind to us. But what about the unlovable? That verse in Galatians doesn’t say “let us do good to some.” It says “let us do good to everyone”. Yes, that means being kind to the people who drive us crazy or do not deserve our time, talents, or treasures.
We will never know the impact we have on a person when we are kind to them. But they will sure feel it. If it wasn’t for your kindness on that day, in that moment, they might have gone down a completely different path. Acts of kindness can boost feelings of confidence and optimism in others. It may make a person feel so good that they pay it forward. And all of a sudden hundreds of people are walking around with a positive attitude all because you took time out of your day to be kind to one person.
Kindness is contagious! Pass it on.
