5-8-22 Cha Cha Slide
Quote: “Optimist: Someone who figures out that taking a step backward after taking a step forward is not a disaster, it’s a cha-cha.”
I’ve got a confession: I love to dance.
I did not say I am good at dancing. But I did say I love to dance! I don’t know what in the world gets into me but I hear a beat and my body starts wanting to tap along or instantly move my feet! My son Logan is the same way. He is a mover and a shaker. (I can, however, kind of explain his impulse to move – I was a Zumba instructor when I was pregnant with him and I think I did a little too much cha-cha and salsa and belly dancing during that pregnancy! Lol)
The cha-cha is such a beautiful dance. One moment, you’re stepping slightly forward, then slightly backward, and then slightly forward again, back and forth, in a rhythmic and delicate balance of motion. Sister, if you are in a season where you are struggling and feeling like you are not making strides forward, know that it’s okay! Brother, if you feel like someone in your life is backsliding, urge them to keep moving forward!
The slide back might just be a moment of adjustment.
Not too long ago, I heard the statement, “You go up a level, you get a whole new devil.” I love this statement because this is our way of saying, “Aha!” I recognize the Evil One and I see what he’s doing. He’s trying to destroy everything God has set up for good. He sees you spreading kindness and love. He sees you biting your tongue and telling the truth and giving of your time, talent, and treasures. He knows you are tired and are needing a reset. And that’s when he attacks! He’s an expert at it. He’s been doing it for thousands of years. He strikes at the perfect moments – when we are stagnant or falling back into old patterns. Satan wants to pull you down to his miserable level because you are making a positive impact on the planet!
Don’t let evil win. Adjust! Turn your backsliding into a sassy dance move and cha-cha back forward with class!
It says in Isaiah 43:18-19 these amazing verses: “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and put rivers in the desert.”
Do you hear God’s message to you in those verses? Spring forth! Cha-cha forward! He will help you move forward and live the abundant life, like the fast moving water in a mighty river. Do not let a little setback set you completely back. Let God teach you the message in the middle of the mess and then let the lesson learned catapult you into your destiny!
Then keep on dancing like nobody’s watching!
