 Jail Ministry video

Have you ever been nonchalantly scrolling through social media and you read something that just tugs at your heart instantly? Yeah, that happened to me one day.  I could FEEL this uncomfortable churning in my soul.  I am a 5’1″ kindergarten teacher … Lord, you want me to go where?!  I was terrified, yet just a wee bit curious.  Check out the video above!

Sometimes God calls us to do things we feel we are not possibly equipped to do.  But He equips those He calls!  Moses stuttered yet ended up giving us the Ten Commandments.  David was a shepherd boy who became a king.  Ruth was working in someone’s field and soon after was owning the same field. Paul was killing Christians yet became one of the greatest missionaries.  I could not just shrug off this deep urge to minister to hurting and lonely women in our community.  A wise man in our church once said this before his adult baptism, “I’m here today to do something I should have done a long time ago.  Delayed obedience is disobedience.”  I simply had to obey!

My friend Bonnie and I have commented to each other many times after leaving the jail, “I can’t believe I went there to bless them and they ended up blessing me!”  Their faith, hope, and honesty is refreshing.  They are hungry to go back to the roots of their Christian faith and make changes in their life.  All we do is go in once a month for an hour and devote our attention to them.  We listen to them, pray over their situations, and bring a part of the Bible to life for them as we study the Scriptures.  Pray about if you are being called to serve at a local jail.  You can also email us at ZieroffMinistries@gmail.com for more information or visit the website at the link above!
