 2015-2021 Previous Classes

At the beginning of 2015, I felt this gentle nudge from God to open our home once a week to women and encourage them to either strengthen their faith or start their faith journey.  I invited women from my church, friends, parents of former students, and neighbors.  We called it a “Book Club” and picked a Christian book to study.  I quickly realized it is one thing to be able to teach children; it is a completely different ballgame teaching adults – I was so nervous!  At that point in my life, I didn’t have the best record of being a good friend.  (By the way, I believe this is the reason God gave me all boys.  He knew it would take me decades to figure out how to have healthy relationships with women, just in time to embrace daughter-in-laws!)

Our book club ladies diminished in number over that year, yet I truly felt God was working in many women’s lives.  Plus I had real Christian friends for the first time in my life.  They accepted me as the spunky and intense person I was.  I had a deep sense that God was just getting started on molding me into the woman HE wanted me to be.  The best part about this first leadership opportunity was that I found out later many of the women had decided to come only because it was held in my home – they wanted a safe and comfortable environment to grow.  God had miraculously showed up and blessed all of us.
